Evening Adhkar
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 7:1648

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This powerful supplication is recommended to be recited in the morning, after Fajr prayer, as it was the Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ practice. However, its essence of seeking beneficial knowledge, pure sustenance, and accepted deeds is relevant at any time, and incorporating it into your evening reflection can be a meaningful way to conclude your day, reflecting on your actions and seeking Allah's continued favor for the coming day.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, turning to Allah with a hopeful heart. Imagine yourself asking a benevolent King for the most precious gifts. Ensure you are in a state of purity if possible. Focus on the meaning of each word: seeking knowledge that benefits you and others, provision that is pure and lawful, and deeds that Allah accepts from you.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates seeking the best of both worlds. Beneficial knowledge guides us, goodly provision sustains us lawfully, and accepted deeds bring us closer to Allah. When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ recited this, it was part of his morning routine, signifying a comprehensive start to the day. Making it a part of your evening can prepare your heart and mind for a blessed night and a fruitful tomorrow, ensuring that your efforts throughout the day are aligned with what Allah loves.
