Narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): A man came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah! What a night I had last night!' He (the Prophet) said, 'What happened?' He said, 'I was stung by a scorpion.' He (the Prophet) said, 'As for the one who said, when night came: أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ (A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq) - 'I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created,' he would not be harmed.' So, this reached some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, and they mentioned it to him, and he said: 'One of you can say it, and it will be a protection for him for that night.'
