In the name of Allah, and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. I seek refuge in Allah the Almighty, and with His noble Face, and by His ancient authority from the accursed Satan. O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.
Bismillahi was-salatu was-salamu 'ala Rasulillah. A'udhu billahil-'adhim wa biwajhihil-karim wa bi-sultanihil-qadim minash-shaytanir-rajim. Allahumma-ftah li abwaba rahmatik.
When to Read
This dua is recited when entering any mosque, but it holds special significance when entering Masjid an-Nabawi (the Prophet's Mosque) in Madinah. As you approach the blessed gates, take a moment to pause, reflect, and recite this supplication.
How to Read
Recite this dua upon entering the mosque. It's recommended to enter with your right foot first, just as you would for any other mosque, and to do so with humility and reverence, remembering you are entering a place of immense sanctity.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua invokes Allah's protection from Shaytan and asks for His mercy. Entering the Prophet's Mosque, the second holiest site in Islam, with such a supplication seeks to maximize the blessings of the visit, opening the heart and mind to the spiritual atmosphere and the opportunity for worship and reflection.
Source & Authentication
It was narrated from Fatimah bint Qais that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'When one of you enters a mosque, let him say: Bismillahi was-salatu was-salamu 'ala Rasulillah. A'udhu billahil-'adhim wa biwajhihil-karim wa bi-sultanihil-qadim minash-shaytanir-rajim. Allahumma-ftah li abwaba rahmatik.' (And when he leaves, let him say the like of that).
