The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'When any one of you performs ablution in his house, and then sets out for one of the mosques of Allah, there are two steps for each of his journeys, and his one step takes him one step higher, and the other step takes him one step lower, and when he enters the mosque, he should observe two rak'ahs of prayer which are like a rampart between him and Hell-fire, and if he sits (after the prayer) he is in a state of being engaged in prayer, and the angels keep on praying for any one of you as long as he remains in the place where he offered the prayer, saying: O Allah! Show mercy to him, O Allah! Forgive him, O Allah! Accept his repentance.' Then the narrator said: 'And 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) recited: 'Allahumma-jal fi qalbi nooran, wa fi basari nooran, wa fi sam'i nooran, wa 'an yameeni nooran, wa 'an yasari nooran, wa fawqi nooran, wa tahti nooran, wa amami nooran, wa khalfi nooran, waj'al li nooran.'
