اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.
Allahumma-ftah li abwaba rahmatik
When to Read
Recite this dua just as you are about to step into the masjid (mosque). It's a beautiful way to begin your spiritual journey within its walls, setting the intention to seek Allah's mercy and guidance, which is precisely what we need when facing the challenge of laziness in worship.
How to Read
As you approach the entrance of the masjid, pause for a moment. Hold the intention in your heart to seek Allah's pleasure and His mercy. Recite the dua clearly, imagining the doors of Allah's vast mercy opening before you. It's recommended to enter with your right foot first, following the Sunnah.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is more than just a greeting to the masjid; it's a profound request for divine assistance. When we feel that inertia creeping in, that reluctance to pray or engage in worship, our first and best recourse is to turn to Allah. Asking for His 'mercy' opens the door to His help in overcoming our weaknesses, including laziness. It reminds us that true strength and ability to worship comes only from Him, Al-Qadir (The All-Powerful).

When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) entered the mosque, he would say: 'Allahumma-ftah li abwaba rahmatik' (O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy). And when he left, he would say: 'Allahumma-inni as'aluka min fadlik' (O Allah, I ask of You from Your bounty). — Sahih Muslim 713
