An-Nawwas bin Sam'an (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: "Allah, the Exalted, has set forth an example: a good and well-behaved servant whom his Master has commanded to do something, and he says: 'I shall obey, O my Master, I shall obey,' and he does it. So, Allah rewards him with Paradise. And another servant whom his Master has ordered something, and he says: 'I shall not obey you, nor will I do what you command me.' So, Allah punishes him with Hell-fire." An-Nawwas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) also said: "When one of you performs ablution and completes it as prescribed, then intends to go to the Masjid, he should say: 'Allahumma-j'alni min-at-tawwabina waj'alni minal-mutatahhirin' (O Allah, make me among those who repent and make me among those who purify themselves)." And when he enters the Masjid, he should say: 'Allahumma-ftah li abwaba rahmatik' (O Allah, open for me the doors of Your Mercy). And when he leaves the Masjid, he should say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik' (O Allah, I ask You of Your Grace).
