اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.

Allahumma-ftah li abwaba rahmatik

When to Read

This dua is recited upon entering the masjid. It is specifically taught for entering the mosque and can be said upon entering any mosque, anywhere. The intention is to seek Allah's abundant mercy as you step into a place of worship and connection with Him.

How to Read

Recite this dua as you are about to enter the masjid or just as you step inside. It's best said after saying the dua for leaving the house and before entering the masjid itself. You would typically enter with your right foot first, and as you do so, make this invocation.

Virtues & Benefits

By reciting this dua, we are invoking Allah's immense mercy. The masjid is a house of Allah, a place where His mercy descends. Asking for the 'doors of mercy' to be opened signifies our desire for increased blessings, forgiveness, guidance, and spiritual benefit during our time in the masjid. It's a beautiful way to begin our worship, setting a tone of seeking Allah's favour and closeness.

‘Abdullah bin Al-Harith reported: Jabir bin ‘Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I heard the Prophet ﷺ say when he entered the mosque: 'O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.' And when he left the mosque, he would say: 'O Allah, I ask You for Your grace.'"
