اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.
Allahumma iftah li abwaba rahmatik
When to Read
This supplication is recited upon entering the Masjid. While the direct dua is for opening the doors of mercy, we can, in the sanctity of Allah's house, raise our hands and supplicate for our personal needs, such as seeking a righteous spouse. The Masjid is a place where prayers are accepted and multiplied, making it an ideal setting to ask Allah for guidance and success in finding a partner who will be a source of comfort, love, and shared devotion.
How to Read
Recite this dua clearly upon entering the Masjid, preferably with your right foot first, while intending to seek Allah's blessings and guidance in all matters, including your desire for a spouse. After reciting this, you may make your personal supplications (dua) silently or in a low voice, asking Allah to bless you with a spouse who is pleasing to Him and a source of strength in your deen and dunya.
Virtues & Benefits
Entering the Masjid with this dua invites Allah's vast mercy. The Masjid itself is a blessed place, a sanctuary where acts of worship are amplified. By making earnest dua within its walls, particularly for a significant life decision like marriage, we are positioning ourselves to receive Allah's divine assistance and blessings. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'The prayers offered in congregation are superior to the prayers offered by one person alone by twenty-seven degrees.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 645). While this specifically refers to congregational prayer, the general sanctity and spiritual elevation of the Masjid provide an atmosphere conducive to answered supplications.
Source & Authentication
It was narrated that Abu Usayd Malik bin Rab'ah As-Sa'idi said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say when he entered the mosque: "Allahumma aftah li abwaba rahmatik" (O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy). And when he went out, he would say: "Allahumma aftah li abwaba fadlik" (O Allah, open for me the doors of Your grace).' — Sahih Muslim 713
