اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.

Allahumma-ftah li abwaba rahmatik

When to Read

This beautiful supplication is recited when you approach the entrance of the masjid and are about to step inside. It's a moment to transition from the outside world to a place of worship and reflection.

How to Read

As you reach the masjid door, pause for a moment. Face the entrance, perhaps even the Ka'bah if visible and facing that direction. Recite this dua with sincerity, focusing on the meaning: you are asking Allah to grant you access to His immense mercy within His house. It's customary to enter with your right foot after reciting the dua, following the general Sunnah of entering places of honor or blessing.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua beautifully encapsulates the purpose of visiting a masjid – seeking Allah's mercy. When we enter the masjid, we are entering a place where Allah's blessings and forgiveness are abundant. It reminds us that even entering a place of worship is an act of seeking Allah's favor, and His mercy is the key to all success, both in this life and the hereafter.
