When to Read
This dua is recited upon entering the masjid. It's a beautiful way to begin your time in the House of Allah, setting the intention to seek His mercy and guidance, especially as you prepare to engage with the Quran.
How to Read
As you enter the masjid, preferably with your right foot, recite this dua sincerely, focusing on the meaning and seeking Allah's expansive mercy. Imagine those doors of mercy opening for you as you step into His sacred space.
Virtues & Benefits
Entering the masjid seeking Allah's mercy is a foundational act. It reminds us that our worship and recitation of the Quran are acts of seeking His favor. This dua sets a tone of humility and hope, crucial when approaching the profound act of reading Allah's words. While this specific dua focuses on general mercy upon entering, the very act of seeking mercy in the masjid is rewarded. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'When any of you prays, he is speaking privately to his Lord, or to Allah between him and the Qibla. The Muezzin then proclaims the Iqamah, and the people get ready for the prayer. A servant of Allah may then perform a rak'ah or two of prayer, and he has spoken to Allah, or to Allah between him and the Qibla. He should not raise his voice over the voice of the other, and they should not disturb each other.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 6137). This highlights the sacred atmosphere and the importance of mindful presence.
