اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils (or evil things).
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith
When to Read
This dua should be recited just before entering the toilet or bathroom. It's a practice taught by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to seek protection when entering a place that is known to be inhabited by Jinn and Shayatin.
How to Read
Recite this dua sincerely with the intention of seeking Allah's protection. It is generally recommended to recite it before stepping in with the left foot, though the primary emphasis is on the words and intention. The Prophet ﷺ himself would often begin with his left foot upon entering such places and with his right foot when leaving.
Virtues & Benefits
The toilet and bathroom are considered places where one is most vulnerable to the whispers and influences of Shaytan. By reciting this dua, we are invoking Allah's protection, asking Him to shield us from any evil presence or temptation that might be lurking there. This simple act is a powerful way to maintain our spiritual purity and safeguard ourselves throughout the day, as it reminds us that Allah's protection is sought in all aspects of our lives, even the mundane.
