How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction as you are about to step into the bathroom. It's the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to say this before entering.
Virtues & Benefits
By reciting this dua, we seek Allah's protection from the evil influences and impurities associated with the place of excretion, which is often inhabited by shayateen. It's a way of spiritual purification and setting a barrier against harmful whisperings and negative energies, turning even a private act into one of remembrance of Allah and seeking His refuge.
Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'When any one of you intends to go to the privy, he should say: (Bismillahi, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal khubuthi wal khaba'ith.) (Sahih al-Bukhari 6306). The word 'khubuth' refers to male devils and 'khaba'ith' refers to female devils, and in this context it can also mean all kinds of evil and wicked things.
