اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from all evil jinn, both male and female.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith

When to Read

This dua is recited just before entering the bathroom or toilet area. It's a practice taught by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to seek protection before entering a place that is considered impure and a dwelling for the jinn.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely with the intention of seeking Allah's protection. It is generally recited before stepping into the bathroom with the left foot, as this is the Sunnah for entering such places.

By reciting this dua, we are following the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ and seeking Allah's protection from the unseen evils that may reside in such places. It is a way to purify our intention and seek Allah's blessing even in mundane activities, reminding us that we are always under His watch and seeking His refuge.

Narrated by Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet ﷺ used to say when he entered the privy: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from evil jinn, male and female.)
