Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6306

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils (or from evil and wicked things).

Bismillahi, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal khubuthi wal khaba'ith.

When to Read

This dua is recited just before entering the bathroom or toilet. It's a fundamental practice that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us as a way to prepare ourselves spiritually before entering a place associated with impurities and the dwelling of Jinn.

How to Read

Recite this supplication sincerely with the intention of seeking Allah's protection. Utter the words clearly, acknowledging the presence of Allah and His power over all things, seen and unseen.

Narrated Anas: The Prophet ﷺ used to say, 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil effects of (drinking wine) and gambling, and from the evil of having a premature ejaculation, and from the evil of being killed in the battlefield, and from the evil of dying in a (bad) place (like a battlefield).' Anas also narrated: 'When the Prophet ﷺ entered the privy, he used to say: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal khubuthi wal khaba'ith.' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of the devils, male and female).
