Entering Bathroom
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6306

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils (or from evil and wicked things).

Bismillahi, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.

When to Read

This dua should be recited just before entering the bathroom or toilet area. It's a Sunnah practice to remember Allah even in a place where we often forget Him.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely while facing the direction of the bathroom before stepping in. It's generally recommended to step in with your left foot after reciting the dua, following the Prophet's ﷺ practice for entering places of impurity.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication is a powerful shield, seeking protection from the evil influences that may reside in places of impurity. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua to invoke Allah's name and seek His refuge even before entering such a private space. It reminds us that Allah's presence and protection encompass all aspects of our lives, and by remembering Him, we purify ourselves both physically and spiritually.

Source & Authentication

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the Prophet (ﷺ) wanted to enter the toilet, he used to say: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil ones, male and female.)
