بِسْمِ اللهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ.
In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male devils and female devils.
Bismillah, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal khubuthi wal khaba'ith.
When to Read
This dua should be recited just before entering the bathroom or toilet. It is an act of seeking Allah's protection before stepping into a place that is often associated with impurities and potentially harmful elements, both seen and unseen.
How to Read
Recite this supplication before entering the bathroom. It is recommended to do so before you physically cross the threshold. Some scholars also mention reciting it before sitting down, but the primary point is to say it upon entry.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua to seek refuge in Allah from the evil and mischievous beings that inhabit such places. Bathrooms and toilets, due to their nature, can be places where impurities gather, and symbolically, they are seen as places where Shaytan and his ilk may reside. By reciting this dua, we invoke Allah's protection, seeking refuge not just from physical discomforts or diseases that might be associated with such environments, but also from spiritual harm and the whispers of Shaytan. It's a beautiful reminder that even in the most mundane and private moments, we are connected to Allah and seeking His safeguarding presence. This practice aligns with the broader Sunnah of seeking Allah's protection at the start of any potentially vulnerable activity.
