How to Read
This dua should be recited before one steps into the bathroom. It is recommended to enter with the left foot and exit with the right foot, in accordance with the Sunnah. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet ﷺ, when he entered the toilet, used to say: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil ones, male and female). Sahih al-Bukhari 6306. Similar narration in Sahih Muslim 375, with slight variation in wording of the dua: 'Bismillah. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.' (In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil ones, male and female).
