بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils (or from evil and wicked things).
Bismillahi, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal khubuthi wal khaba'ith.
When to Read
This dua is recited just before entering the bathroom or toilet. It's a specific supplication for a place that is often associated with impurity and the presence of jinn. By reciting this, we are making our intention clear: to seek Allah's protection even in such a place.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity before stepping into the bathroom. Begin with 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah) as is customary for most actions in Islam, and then proceed with the rest of the supplication, seeking refuge in Allah from any evil or mischievous beings that might be present.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua to seek Allah's protection from the harmful influences that may reside in places of impurity, such as the bathroom. These places are known to be inhabited by jinn, and this supplication serves as a spiritual shield. By seeking refuge in Allah, we purify our intention and ask Him to keep us safe from any spiritual or physical harm associated with that environment. It’s a beautiful example of how Islam guides us to remember Allah and seek His protection in every aspect of our lives, no matter how mundane or private.
