بِسْمِ اللهِ، اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils (or evil spirits).
Bismillahi, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal khubuthi wal khaba'ith.
When to Read
This dua is specifically recited before entering the bathroom or toilet area. It's an act of seeking Allah's protection as we enter a place where impurity is present and where evil spirits are known to reside.
How to Read
Recite this supplication *before* stepping into the bathroom with your left foot, or before the actual act of using the toilet. Begin with 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah). The intention is to invoke Allah's name and seek His protection before encountering any potential harm or malevolent influences within that space.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua to shield ourselves from the unseen evils that may inhabit places of impurity, like bathrooms. These are the realms of the Jinn, including both male and female devils. By reciting this, we are consciously asking Allah, the Most High, for His safeguarding presence, ensuring our spiritual and even physical well-being from unseen harm. It reminds us that even in the most mundane and private spaces, Allah's protection is sought and available.
Source & Authentication
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'The invocation between the Jinn and the children of Adam is that which prevents the evil of the Jinn from the children of Adam, and that is: Bismillah (In the name of Allah).' Another narration: 'When one of you enters the privy, he should say: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils.'
