بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils (or from evil and wicked things).
Bismillah, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal khubuthi wal khaba'ith.
When to Read
This dua is recited just before entering the bathroom or toilet. It's a specific supplication for when we are about to engage in a private act, a space often associated with impurities and potential spiritual harm. By reciting this, we are consciously seeking Allah's protection and acknowledging His presence even in such mundane and personal moments.
How to Read
Recite this dua before stepping into the bathroom with your left foot forward. It's recommended to recite it audibly, or at least clearly in your heart, as you prepare to enter. Remember the intention behind it – seeking Allah's shield from all forms of harm, both physical and spiritual, that might be present in such places.
Virtues & Benefits
The primary benefit is seeking Allah's protection from the evil spirits (shayatin) that are known to frequent places of impurity. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua to safeguard ourselves. It also serves as a constant reminder of Allah's omnipresence and our reliance on Him in all circumstances, even those we might otherwise consider private or insignificant. It helps maintain a state of remembrance (dhikr) and spiritual awareness, turning an ordinary act into one of worship and seeking divine assistance.

Narrated Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say when he entered the privy: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal khubuthi wal khaba'ith.' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil things which cause evil, or from evil and wicked things).
