Entering Bathroom
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6306

بِسْمِ اللهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils (or evil and wicked things).

Bismillahi. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.

When to Read

This dua is recited immediately before entering the bathroom or toilet area. It's a specific supplication to invoke Allah's protection as we enter a place that can be associated with impurities and unseen evils.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely with the intention of seeking Allah's protection. It is generally recited before stepping in with the left foot, though the primary etiquette is the invocation itself. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to enter with the right foot and exit with the left, making this dua upon entering.

Virtues & Benefits

By reciting this dua, we seek refuge in Allah from all forms of evil, including the shayatin (devils) who are known to frequent places of impurity. This practice is a beautiful example of how Islam encompasses all aspects of life, even the most private, guiding us to remember Allah and seek His protection in every situation. It purifies our actions and reminds us that even in solitude, we are in Allah's presence and under His watchful care.
