The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'When any one of you intends to enter the privy, he should say: Bismillah, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.' (Meaning: In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from all evil things, male and female devils.) This hadith is found in Sahih al-Bukhari (Book 5, Hadith 142, 6306 in some numbering) and Sahih Muslim (Book 4, Hadith 561, 375 in some numbering). The term 'khubuth' refers to male devils, and 'khaba'ith' refers to female devils.
