اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils (or evil spirits, or impurity and impurity-causing things).
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith
When to Read
This dua is recited *before* entering the bathroom. It's a practice taught by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to seek Allah's protection as we enter a place often associated with impurity and the dwelling of Jinn.
How to Read
Recite this dua sincerely with the intention of seeking Allah's protection. It is recommended to say it upon approaching the entrance of the bathroom. Some narrations suggest stepping in with the left foot after reciting this dua, as the Prophet ﷺ would do for entering the bathroom. This mindful practice connects our physical actions to our spiritual state.
Virtues & Benefits
By reciting this dua, we invite Allah's protection into a space where spiritual harm might be present. It's a beautiful reminder that even in seemingly mundane acts, we can seek nearness to Allah and maintain our spiritual purity. The bathroom is a place where we are physically vulnerable, and this dua serves as a shield, warding off the whispers of Shaytan and any negative influences. It also cultivates a conscious awareness of cleanliness, both outward and inward, reflecting the holistic approach of Islam to purification.
