بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils (or from evil things and evil beings).
Bismillah, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith
When to Read
This dua should be recited just before entering the bathroom or toilet area. It's a simple yet profound habit that acknowledges Allah's presence and protection even in places where we might otherwise feel isolated or vulnerable.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity as you approach the entrance of the bathroom. It's recommended to enter with your left foot first after reciting the dua, and to exit with your right foot first after you finish, in accordance with the Prophet's ﷺ practices regarding entering and exiting such places.
Virtues & Benefits
By reciting this dua, we are invoking Allah's protection from all forms of evil and impurity, both physical and spiritual. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this supplication to seek refuge from the jinn (male and female devils, 'khubuth' referring to males and 'khaba'ith' to females) who are known to frequent such unclean places. This act helps to sanctify our actions and maintain our awareness of Allah in all circumstances, transforming an ordinary act into an act of remembrance (dhikr).
