Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua to seek Allah's protection from the evils and mischievous beings that are known to frequent such places. It's a beautiful reminder that even in the most mundane or private of moments, we are connected to Allah and can seek His refuge. This practice purifies our intention and acknowledges Allah's sovereignty over all aspects of our lives, including our physical needs and the unseen.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Anas: The Prophet ﷺ, when going to relieve himself, used to say: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 142). The word 'khubuth' is plural of 'khabath' (evil, wicked) and 'khaba'ith' is plural of 'khabitha' (wicked female). It refers to the male and female devils.
