بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male devils and female devils (or from all evil and all evil things).
Bismillah, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.
When to Read
This dua is recited *before* entering the bathroom (toilet/restroom). It's a general supplication for seeking Allah's protection before entering a place that is often associated with impurities and the dwelling of shayatin (devils). While the primary purpose is seeking refuge from evils, maintaining hygiene and a healthy digestive system are intrinsically linked to seeking Allah's overall well-being for us.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity as you are about to step into the bathroom. It is generally understood that the right foot is used to enter, and the left foot to exit, though the primary focus is the dua itself. Speak the words clearly and with intention.
Virtues & Benefits
By reciting this dua, we are following the beautiful Sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. This act seeks Allah's protection from unseen evils that might reside in such places, including the devils (shayatin). This divine protection can extend to our physical well-being. A healthy body, including a well-functioning digestive system, is a blessing from Allah. By seeking refuge from 'khubuth' (male devils) and 'khaba'ith' (female devils or evil things), we are indirectly asking Allah to safeguard us from all forms of harm, both spiritual and physical, that could affect our health and purity.
