بِسْمِ اللهِ. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ.
In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils (or evil spirits).
Bismillahi. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.
When to Read
This dua should be recited just before entering the bathroom or toilet area. It is a practice taught by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as a way to seek Allah's protection before entering a place associated with impurity and potential harm from unseen forces.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity before stepping into the bathroom. It's generally recommended to enter with the left foot after reciting the dua, and to exit with the right foot after saying the dua for exiting. The essence is to remember Allah and seek His protection as you enter a place that is not meant for His remembrance.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication is a shield against the whispers and mischief of Shaytan and the jinn who often reside in places of impurity. By seeking refuge in Allah, we ask Him to keep us safe from any spiritual or physical harm that might befall us in such an environment. It also serves as a reminder of Allah's presence and protection in all circumstances, even in the most private of moments. It trains our hearts to remember Allah at all times, which is the essence of worship.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet ﷺ, when he entered the toilet, used to say: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil ones [male devils] and the evil ones [female devils]).
