Entering Bathroom
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim 142 (Bukhari), 375 (Muslim)

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from evil [all evil spirits, male and female].

Bismillahi, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal khubuthi wal khaba'ith

When to Read

This dua is recited *before* entering the bathroom or toilet area. It is a Sunnah practice that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to observe whenever we are about to enter a place where impure things are kept and where evil spirits are known to congregate.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity before stepping inside the bathroom. It is recommended to say 'Bismillah' first, as it brings Allah's name and protection into even mundane actions. The word 'khubuth' refers to male devils, and 'khaba'ith' refers to female devils, encompassing all forms of evil entities that may be present in such places.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication is a shield from all forms of evil and harm, both spiritual and physical, that might be associated with the place of impurity. By invoking Allah's protection, we acknowledge His power over all things and seek His safeguard. The Prophet ﷺ, despite being the most pure and protected, taught us this dua, emphasizing its importance for all believers as a means of purification and seeking divine security in all aspects of life.
