اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male devils and female devils.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khabaa'ith
When to Read
This dua is recited *before* entering the bathroom or toilet area. It's a practice taught by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to seek protection as we enter a place where impurities and potentially unseen disturbances reside.
How to Read
Recite this clearly before stepping into the bathroom. While the hadith doesn't specify which foot to enter with, it's a widely accepted Sunnah to enter with the left foot and exit with the right foot, mirroring the practice for entering and exiting mosques (though with opposite feet). It's also important to remember that remembrance of Allah is generally done silently in the bathroom.
Virtues & Benefits
By reciting this dua, we are actively seeking Allah's protection from all forms of evil, both seen and unseen, that might be present in such a place. It’s a beautiful reminder that even in our most private moments, Allah's protection is sought, acknowledging His sovereignty over all environments and His care for His believing servants.
