Dua for Entering the Bathroom

Entering Bathroom
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim 6306 (Bukhari), 375 (Muslim)

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils (or evil spirits).

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith

When to Read

This dua is recited specifically when intending to enter the toilet or bathroom. It's a practice taught by our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to seek protection before entering a place that is considered potentially impure and a dwelling for evil spirits.

How to Read

Recite this dua before stepping into the bathroom. The Prophet ﷺ would enter with his left foot and exit with his right foot, so it is recommended to follow this sunnah. Ensure it's recited with sincerity and understanding of its meaning.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a powerful shield against the whispers and harmful influences of Shaytan and jinn, who are known to frequent places of impurity. By seeking Allah's refuge, we purify our intention and ask for His protection for our bodies and our spiritual well-being during a vulnerable moment. It transforms a mundane act into an act of worship and reliance on Allah.
