بِسْمِ اللهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil spirits, the male and female jinn.
Bismillah. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.
When to Read
Recite this dua before entering the bathroom (toilet) or any place where one might relieve themselves. It's a practice taught by our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to seek protection before entering such private spaces.
How to Read
Say this dua clearly before stepping into the bathroom. It's recommended to enter with the left foot after reciting the dua and exit with the right foot. This practice is attributed to the Sunnah, signifying a separation between the impure place and the blessed state of being outside it.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua invokes Allah's protection from unseen evils that are associated with places of impurity, such as bathrooms. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this to shield us from the harmful influences of jinn and shayatin (devils) who are known to frequent such areas. By seeking Allah's refuge, we ensure our spiritual and physical well-being is guarded during a vulnerable moment.
