During Prayer
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 1522

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

O Allah, help me remember You, thank You, and worship You in the best way.

Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika

When to Read

This is a beautiful and comprehensive supplication taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It's highly recommended to recite it during your prayers, particularly after the Tashahhud and before the Tasleem (the final salutations). You can also make it a part of your daily supplications outside of prayer.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and focus, contemplating its meaning. The Prophet ﷺ taught us to ask Allah for assistance in these three fundamental aspects of our faith: remembering Him (dhikr), thanking Him (shukr), and worshipping Him beautifully (husn al-'ibadah). It's a prayer for ongoing spiritual growth.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a complete plea for spiritual well-being. By asking Allah to help us remember Him, we are asking for constant awareness of His presence. Asking for help to thank Him means seeking the grace to be grateful for all His blessings, big and small. And requesting help to worship Him in the best way is a prayer for sincerity, humility, and perfection in our acts of devotion. It's a powerful request that touches upon the very essence of our connection with Allah.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Make much mention of Allah (dhikr) in your houses. Verily, the house in which Allah is not mentioned is like a dead house.' (Sahih Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 617) It was narrated from Mu'adh ibn Jabal that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) took hold of his hand and said: 'O Mu'adh, by Allah I love you, and I advise you, O Mu'adh, do not forget to say after every prayer: 'Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika' (O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You in the best manner).'
