O Allah, I ask You for a soul at ease, one that believes in Your meeting, is content with Your decree, and is satisfied with Your bestowal.
Allahumma inni as'aluka nafsan bika mutma'innah, tu'minu biliqa'ik, wa tarḍa biqaḍa'ik, wa taqna'u bi 'ata'ik
When to Read
This profound dua is best recited during sujood (prostration) in your obligatory or voluntary prayers. It's a moment of deep submission, where you are closest to Allah. Imagine yourself in sujood, feeling the weight of the world lift as you pour your heart out to your Creator, asking for that ultimate peace that only He can grant.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and heartfelt contemplation, preferably while in the state of sujood during your prayer. Focus on the meaning of each word: 'a soul at ease' – not agitated or restless; 'believes in Your meeting' – trusting in the promise of Jannah and the accountability of the Hereafter; 'content with Your decree' – accepting whatever Allah has ordained, good or bad; and 'satisfied with Your bestowal' – grateful for what He provides, whether little or much. Let your tongue speak these words, but let your heart truly feel them.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua directly addresses the root of many anxieties: a restless soul. By asking Allah for a soul that is *mutma'innah* (at ease), we are seeking a profound inner tranquility that transcends worldly circumstances. Such a soul finds peace in belief, acceptance, and gratitude, which are cornerstones of a strong Imaan. Imam At-Tirmidhi himself graded this hadith as Hasan. It's a beautiful supplication that nurtures contentment and strengthens one's faith in Allah's plan and His generous provisions.

Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq who said: I heard Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib say: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: "Say: O Allah, I seek refuge in You through Your noble Face and the authority that is complete, from the accursed Satan." Al-Bara' said: 'So the people said it, but we did not know how to say it.' Al-Bara' said: 'So I said it, and I said: "O Allah, I ask You for a soul at ease, believing in Your meeting, content with Your decree, and satisfied with Your bestowal." When I said that, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "These are the words of your request." So I said them.'
