Seeking Allah's Intercession for the Quran During Prayer

During Prayer
Hasan HadithMusnad Ahmad 22245

O Allah, I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself by, or that You have taught to any of Your creation, or that You have revealed in Your Book, or that You have retained in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the remover of my sadness, and the banisher of my worries.

Allahumma inni as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa lak sammayta bihi nafsak, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqik, aw anzaltahu fi kitabik, aw 'istha'arta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaybi 'indak, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabī'a qalbī, wa nūra ṣadrī, wa jalā'a ḥuznī, wa dhahāba hammi.

When to Read

This dua is particularly profound to recite during the voluntary night prayers (Qiyam al-Layl) or even during the Sunnah prayers, especially when you feel overwhelmed or seeking solace. It can also be recited in prostration (Sujud) during any prayer, as it's a time when supplication is highly regarded.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and deep reflection, focusing on the meaning of the words. Imagine the Quran becoming a source of life and light for your heart and soul. It's best recited when you are in a state of humility and earnestness, ideally during the quiet hours of the night or in the stillness of prostration.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication beautifully connects the greatness of Allah's names with the profound impact of the Quran on our lives. By asking Allah to make the Quran the 'springtime of the heart,' we seek spiritual renewal and growth. It's a means to find emotional peace, as the Quran is declared the 'light of the chest' and the cure for 'sadness' and 'worries.' Reciting it during prayer amplifies our connection with Allah and highlights our reliance on His Book for guidance and comfort.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught his companions a comprehensive supplication to recite: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa lak sammayta bihi nafsak, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqik, aw anzaltahu fi kitabik, aw 'istha'arta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaybi 'indak, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabī'a qalbī, wa nūra ṣadrī, wa jalā'a ḥuznī, wa dhahāba hammi.' (O Allah, I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself by, or that You have taught to any of Your creation, or that You have revealed in Your Book, or that You have retained in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the remover of my sadness, and the banisher of my worries.) This narration is found in Musnad Ahmad and is considered Hasan.
