O Allah, forgive me my sins, all of them, the minor and the major, the first and the last, the apparent and the hidden.
Allahumma-ghfir li dhanbi kullahu, diqqahu wa jillahu, awwalahu wa akhirahu, 'alaniyatahu wa sirrahu
When to Read
This comprehensive supplication for forgiveness can be recited during the *Tashahhud* (the sitting after bowing and prostrating in the final unit of prayer), just before concluding the prayer with the *Taslim* (saying 'Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah' to the right and left). It's also excellent to make such earnest requests for forgiveness during *Sujud* (prostration), as the Prophet ﷺ mentioned that a servant is closest to his Lord when he is prostrating.
How to Read
Recite this dua with a sincere heart, acknowledging your shortcomings and your absolute need for Allah's mercy. Focus on the meaning of each word, understanding that you are asking the Creator of all things to overlook your missteps. Say it with humility and hope, raising your hands slightly in supplication if you are reciting it during a time when raising hands is appropriate (like in the Tashahhud, it's generally avoided, but in Sujud, it's recommended to supplicate extensively).
