O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the subduing of men.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabad-dayni wa qahrir-rijal.
When to Read
This is a profound dua that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to recite regularly, especially after the Fard (obligatory) prayers. It's a powerful way to seek Allah's protection from the overwhelming weight of debt and the humiliation it can bring, asking for His help to manage our affairs and avoid such difficulties.
How to Read
Recite this dua sincerely with full conviction after finishing your Fard prayers, while still in your prayer place if possible. Raise your hands slightly as you make the dua, focusing on the meaning and asking Allah with humility and hope. The Prophet ﷺ used to say this dua regularly, so making it a habit can bring immense benefit.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates seeking refuge in Allah from several trials of life, including the oppressive burden of debt ('ghalabad-dayn') and being overcome by people ('qahrir-rijal'). By seeking refuge in Allah, we acknowledge His power over all affairs and entrust our well-being to Him. This helps alleviate anxieties associated with financial hardship and reliance on others, fostering contentment and reliance solely on Allah.
