O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove this suffering. Heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no sickness behind.
Allahumma Rabb an-nas, adhibil-ba's, ishfi anta ash-shafi, la shifa'a illa shifa'uka shifa'an la yughadiru saqaman
When to Read
This powerful supplication is especially relevant when you are praying and find yourself overcome by sickness or pain. While standing in prayer, if the discomfort becomes intense, you can pause briefly after your recitation in Ruq' (bowing) or Sujud (prostration) to make this dua, seeking immediate relief from Allah. It can also be recited during times of prostration (Sujud) in general, as this is a key moment for a servant to be close to their Lord and to make earnest requests.
How to Read
Recite this dua with a sincere heart, fully believing in Allah's power to heal. While traditionally recited when illness strikes, its inclusion in the prayer context means it can be uttered during moments of deep supplication within Salah, such as during prolonged prostration. Focus on the meaning of each word and direct your plea to Allah alone. It's important to remember that this dua is not meant to interrupt the prayer unduly, but to be a heartfelt plea when the need arises during it, ideally within the established postures of prayer where supplication is encouraged.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates a complete surrender to Allah as the ultimate Healer. It acknowledges His dominion over all things, including health and sickness. Reciting it, especially during prayer, amplifies its potential effect as you are directly communicating with Allah in a state of worship. It fosters reliance on Allah (Tawakkul) and reminds us that true recovery comes only from Him, not from any secondary means without His permission. The phrase 'a healing that leaves no sickness behind' is a profound request for complete and lasting wellness.

‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When any one of us became sick, Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) would rub the afflicted place with his right hand and say: 'Allahumma Rabb an-nas, adhibil-ba's, ishfi anta ash-shafi, la shifa'a illa shifa'uka shifa'an la yughadiru saqaman.' (O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove this suffering. Heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no sickness behind.) (Sahih al-Bukhari 5743)
