اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ، وَشُكْرِكَ، وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ
O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You in the best way.
Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika, wa shukrika, wa husni 'ibadatika
When to Read
This is a powerful supplication that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught his companions to recite. It's particularly relevant for us when we are in prayer, especially towards the end, after the Tashahhud, or even during the prostration (sujood) when supplication is highly encouraged. It’s a comprehensive plea for help in fulfilling the very essence of our connection with Allah: remembering Him, being grateful to Him, and worshipping Him according to His guidelines, which includes following the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ.
How to Read
This dua should be recited with sincerity and a heartfelt acknowledgment of our own need for Allah's assistance. Understand each part of the dua: 'remembering You' (dhikrika) encompasses constant remembrance in all states, 'thanking You' (shukrika) means being grateful for His countless blessings, and 'worshipping You in the best way' (husni 'ibadatika) directly asks for the ability to perform acts of worship, including prayer, in the manner taught by the Prophet ﷺ, perfectly and according to his Sunnah. Make it a habit to incorporate this into your prayers, especially the obligatory ones.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking Allah's help in remembering Him, thanking Him, and worshipping Him properly is fundamental to a fulfilling prayer life. By asking Allah to help us worship Him in the best way, we are directly asking for the ability to implement the Sunnah in our prayer – its timings, its actions, its words. This dua, taught by the Prophet ﷺ himself, is a direct pathway to aligning our worship with divine guidance, ensuring our prayers are pleasing to Allah and fulfill their purpose of strengthening our connection with Him.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The people of the Book used to divide their hair and strike the ground with their clubs. And there would not be any of them except that they would pray the prayer of the grave. And indeed, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'O Allah, help me to remember You, and to thank You, and to worship You in the best way.' (Sunan Abu Dawud 1522, classified as Hasan by Al-Albani).
