O Allah, guide me among those whom You have guided, grant me well-being among those whom You have granted well-being, take me into Your care among those whom You have taken into Your care, bless me in what You have given, and protect me from the evil of what You have decreed. Indeed, You decree and are not decreed against, and none is humiliated whom You have befriended. Blessed are You, our Lord, and Exalted.

The narration from Hasan al-Basri concerning the Qunoot of the Prophet (ﷺ) that he said: 'When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) intended to send an expedition, he would supplicate the Qunoot before bowing, and when he intended to raid, he would supplicate the Qunoot after bowing.' (This narration is mursal, but has been narrated with connected chains of transmission by Malik in Al-Muwatta' on the authority of Yahya bin Sa'id from Hasan al-Basri, and by Al-Shafi'i from Malik from Yahya bin Sa'id from Hasan al-Basri). Al-Tirmidhi said: The hadith of Hasan al-Basri is the strongest of the hadith reported about the Qunoot. The hadith of Ibn Mas'ud is also reported in this connection. Al-Tirmidhi said: The practice of the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) and those who came after them was to supplicate the Qunoot in the Witr prayer. Al-Shafi'i said: The Qunoot in the Witr prayer is recommended. Another narration states: It was narrated from Ali ibn Abi Talib that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) taught them to say during the Witr prayer: > **Arabic:** اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ، وَبِمُعَافَاتِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ، لاَ أُحْصِي ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ، أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ > **Translation:** 'O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your anger, and in Your forgiveness from Your punishment, and I seek refuge in You from You. I cannot count Your praises, You are as You have praised Yourself.' > **Transliteration:** *Allahumma inni a'udhu biridaka min sakhatik, wa bi mu'afatika min 'uqubatik, wa a'udhu bika minka, la uhsi thana'an 'alayk, anta kama athnayta 'ala nafsik.* — Sunan Abi Dawud 1428, Sunan At-Tirmidhi 452
