O Allah, guide me among those You have guided. Grant me well-being among those You have granted well-being. Take me into Your care among those You have taken into Your care. Bless me in what You have bestowed. Protect me from the evil of what You have decreed. For You decree and are not decreed against. And none can degrade whom You have taken as an ally. Blessed is our Lord and Exalted.
When to Read
Dua al-Qunoot is typically recited during the Witr prayer. It is generally recited after rising from the ruku' (bowing) in the final rak'ah of Witr. Some scholars permit reciting it before bowing as well. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this specific dua to his grandson, Hasan ibn Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both), for use in supplication, implying its suitability for times of earnest pleading, such as in Witr.
How to Read
Recite this dua standing in the final rak'ah of Witr, after rising from the ruku'. Raise your hands slightly in supplication. Maintain humility and sincerity in your heart as you address Allah. The intention is to seek Allah's guidance, protection, and blessings, acknowledging His absolute power and authority.
Virtues & Benefits
This Dua al-Qunoot encapsulates a comprehensive request to Allah, covering crucial aspects of a believer's life: guidance, health (well-being), protection, and blessings. By asking to be included 'among those You have guided' and 'among those You have granted well-being,' one is not just asking for personal benefit but for inclusion in the ranks of the righteous and healthy. The acknowledgement 'For You decree and are not decreed against' highlights tawhid (Oneness of Allah) and His ultimate sovereignty. It is a powerful supplication that seeks Allah's favor in both this life and the hereafter.
