O Allah, guide me among those whom You have guided. Grant me well-being among those whom You have granted well-being. Take me into Your care among those whom You have taken into Your care. Bless me in what You have given me. Protect me from the evil of what You have decreed, for indeed You decree and no one decrees against You. Indeed, he is not humiliated whom You have supported. Blessed and Exalted are You, our Lord.
When to Read
The Shafi'i school of thought recommends reciting Dua al-Qunoot in the Fajr prayer, specifically in the second rak'ah after rising from ruku' (bowing). This is a practice based on the Sunnah, where the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is reported to have performed Qunoot in Fajr prayers, especially during times of hardship or when supplicating for the Muslims.
How to Read
After reciting Surah Al-Fatihah and another Surah in the second rak'ah of Fajr, you rise from ruku' and stand up straight. Then, you raise your hands to your chest level (or to your ears, as some opinions suggest) and recite this Dua al-Qunoot. It is typically recited aloud by the Imam and silently by the congregation, although individual recitation can vary. The key is to be sincere and present your supplication with humility and full reliance on Allah.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting Dua al-Qunoot is a beautiful way to connect with Allah and express our dependence on Him. It’s a moment where we supplicate for guidance, health, protection, and blessings, acknowledging His absolute power and wisdom. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught the companions this dua, indicating its importance and the comprehensive nature of its supplications, covering spiritual, physical, and worldly well-being. It's a means of seeking Allah's help and protection against all forms of evil and hardship.

Narrated by Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): I learned from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) to say in the Qunoot: 'Allahumma ihdini fiman hadait...' [full hadith as above]. (Sunan Abi Dawud 2908. Graded Sahih by Al-Albani).
