Dua for Relief from the Burden of Debt and Supporting Others

Debt
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6369

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the overpowering of men.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijal.

Believe that Allah hears your plea and has the power to grant ease. This dua is part of the Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ daily supplications, showing us its importance and efficacy.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encompasses seeking refuge from several major spiritual and worldly afflictions. By specifically asking for protection from 'the burden of debt and the overpowering of men' (ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijal), we are directly addressing the immense pressure and potential humiliation that debt can bring, particularly when it affects our ability to provide for our families or dependents. This supplication not only seeks financial relief but also protection from the mental and emotional distress associated with such hardship, and the potential oppression that can arise from financial inability.

(O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, helplessness and laziness, cowardice and stinginess, and the burden of debt and the overpowering of men.)
