اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I shall not need anyone besides You.

Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak

When to Read

This is a profound dua taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself for seeking lawful sustenance and independence from need. It's perfect to recite daily, especially after your obligatory prayers, or when you feel the burden of financial worry or the pressure of debt weighing on you. Making it a regular habit can help shift your focus and reliance towards Allah.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and conviction, believing that Allah is the ultimate provider and the only one who can truly relieve your distress. Raise your hands in supplication as the Prophet ﷺ used to do. Try to be in a state of wudu (ritual purity) if possible, and face the Qiblah. Understand the meaning of each word and let it penetrate your heart, focusing on the dependence on Allah alone.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a powerful request to Allah for financial security through permissible means, steering clear of anything forbidden. It also asks for a richness of spirit and reliance that frees one from dependence on anyone or anything other than the Creator. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this to Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) when he asked for a way to pay off his debts, highlighting its effectiveness in seeking divine intervention for financial hardship.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught me these words and instructed me to recite them if I had a debt: 'اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ' (O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I shall not need anyone besides You).
