Recite the dua with conviction, focusing on the meaning and your trust in Allah. It's best recited after completing your obligatory prayers, but can be said at any time you seek Allah's provision and protection from unlawful means. Repeating it multiple times can help solidify its intention in your heart.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a powerful tool for seeking Allah's protection from the temptation of unlawful earnings, which can lead to greater difficulties, both in this life and the Hereafter. By asking Allah to 'suffice me with what You have made lawful, instead of what You have made unlawful,' we are essentially asking Him to provide us with enough halal provision so that we don't have to resort to haram means. The second part, 'and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need anyone other than You,' is a profound declaration of Tawakkul (reliance on Allah). It reminds us that true wealth and independence come from Him alone, freeing us from dependence on creation and the stress that comes with it. This dua directly addresses the dual concerns of financial need and maintaining spiritual integrity.

Narrated by Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): A man came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah! My hands have become tied (i.e., I am indebted) and my sustenance has become difficult.' So he (the Prophet ﷺ) said: 'Shall I not teach you words that you may say, and Allah would remove from you your debt, though it be as large as Mount Uhud? He said: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah!' He said: 'Say: اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ (Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak).'
