O Allah, I seek refuge in You from grief and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the overwhelming of debt and the subjugation of men.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabad-dayni wa qahrir-rijali.
When to Read
This dua is a powerful supplication for anyone burdened by debt, especially when unexpected expenses pile on. Recite it during your daily prayers (after Tasleem, or before), during the times when dua is readily accepted (like between Adhan and Iqamah, or on Friday), or anytime you feel the weight of financial hardship.
How to Read
Make this dua with sincerity and conviction, believing in Allah's power to alleviate your troubles. Utter the words clearly, reflecting on their meaning. It is recommended to raise your hands during the dua. Remember that seeking lawful means to earn a living and managing your finances wisely are also essential steps alongside making dua.
Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive dua seeks refuge from various burdens, including the heavy load of debt ('ghalabad-dayn'). By seeking Allah's protection from being overcome by debt, you are asking for His divine intervention to find a way out. It also includes seeking refuge from 'qahrir-rijal' (the subjugation of men), which can often be a consequence of being unable to meet one's financial obligations. This dua helps in maintaining spiritual and emotional strength during difficult financial times.
