اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I may not need anyone but You.
Allahumma-kfini bi halalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak
When to Read
This powerful dua is specifically taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for seeking relief from debt and attaining financial independence. Recite it regularly, especially after your obligatory prayers (Salat). It's particularly beneficial when you are facing financial difficulties, feeling overwhelmed by debt, or simply seeking Allah's blessing to earn a lawful living and be free from reliance on others.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and full conviction in Allah's ability to provide. Maintain a state of ritual purity (Wudu) if possible. Raise your hands in supplication as you would during prayer. Focus on the meaning of the words, asking Allah to steer you towards halal (lawful) earnings and away from haram (unlawful) means, and to make you content with His abundant blessings.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua directly addresses the twin pillars of financial security: avoiding unlawful means and seeking lawful abundance. By asking Allah to suffice us with the lawful, we are seeking protection from temptations that lead to haram income, which ultimately brings no true benefit and carries significant spiritual harm. By asking to be enriched by His grace, we are asking for a contentment and provision that frees us from dependence on people, fostering dignity and self-reliance through divine help. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself taught this dua to his companion Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was in debt, indicating its direct efficacy for debt relief.
Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught his cousin Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), who was struggling with debt, a specific dua to recite: 'Allahumma-kfini bi halalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.' (O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I may not need anyone but You.) Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) later reported that he recited this dua regularly, and indeed Allah removed his debt.
