Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a powerful shield granted by Allah. When we seek refuge in His perfect words, we are acknowledging His absolute power over all creation and His ability to ward off any harm. Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): A man came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have encountered a bad experience last night." The Prophet asked, "What is it?" He said, "I was bitten by a scorpion." He said, "Would you have said, when you woke up in the morning: A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created), then (nothing) would have harmed you." So, the companions asked the Prophet about saying these words on that day and night. He said: "Say them (every day and night)." Sahih Muslim 2708. While the direct context is for personal protection from harm, the principle of seeking refuge in Allah's perfect words applies universally, including for the protection of our loved ones.
