بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ
In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah. There is no might nor power except with Allah.
Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah
When to Read
This is the dua the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to say when leaving the house. It's perfect for reciting before your child steps out onto the road, whether for school, play, or any journey. It's also beneficial for you to recite it for them, blowing gently onto them or their belongings for extra protection.
How to Read
Recite this with sincerity and conviction, truly placing your trust in Allah's protection. It's recommended to say it aloud before stepping out. For a child, you can hold their hand and recite it with them, or recite it for them and gently blow on them afterward, seeking Allah's safeguard.
Virtues & Benefits
This powerful supplication encapsulates reliance on Allah (tawakkul). When one says this upon leaving their home, it is said they will be guided, sufficient, and protected from Satan's temptations. For our children, it's a way to invoke Allah's direct guardianship over them as they navigate the often unpredictable environment of the roads. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'When a person goes out of his house, he should say: 'Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.' Then it will be said to him: 'You are guided, defended, and your needs are met.' The devil will be driven away from him.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 5133, graded Sahih by Al-Albani).
