Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Abdullah bin Khubaib narrated: We went out on a very dark and rainy night and called for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to lead us in prayer. I went to him and found him saying: 'Say.' I said: 'What shall I say?' He said: 'Say: *Qul Huwallahu Ahad* and *Mu'awwidhatayn* (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas) in the mornings and evenings three times each, and they will suffice you in every way.' In another narration: Abu Sa'id al-Khudri narrated: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to seek refuge with Allah from the jinn and the evil eye until the Mu'awwidhatayn were revealed. When they were revealed, he took to reciting them and abandoned everything else. In a narration of Muslim: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'No servant seeks refuge with words like these (i.e. *A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq*) but that anything in the earth or in the heaven will be protected from him.' And it was said to 'Abdullah bin Khubaib: 'This is a protection for you (i.e. from the jinn and the evil eye).' (Sahih Muslim 2708)
