When to Read
This powerful dua is recommended to be recited for children, especially when they are young and more vulnerable. It's also beneficial during times of widespread illness or when a child seems unwell. Reciting it in the morning and evening, as the Prophet ๏ทบ taught, offers continuous protection.
How to Read
It is Sunnah to recite this dua three times in the morning and three times in the evening for oneself and one's children. The Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ would recite this for his grandsons Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them) when he sought Allah's protection for them from every devil and every poisonous thing. You can gently blow onto your child after reciting, as this was also practiced.

Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ๏ทบ used to seek refuge in Allah for Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them) and say: 'Your Guardian is Allah, and He is your Protection through His words, and the same Protection from every devil and every poisonous creature.' He also used to say: 'I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.' (Sahih Muslim 2708)
